The Assam Malt Authority is an independent office devoted to one tea: Assam, the malty black tea of the Brahmaputra valley. We exist to explain it plainly and certify it honestly. We drink what we certify and say what we find, in plain words and without hype. We keep strictly to the valley: terroir, estates, flush, processing, grades, and brewing. General black-tea matters that belong to the wider family are the business of our sister office, the Black Tea Fellowship. The Authority is published as a chartered member of the United Federation of Tea Taxonomy. It carries advertising, clearly labeled, which does not influence what we write.
